1. Feed then change diaper
2. I love natural remedies :)
3. Patience, patience, patience!
So I think we are finally getting the hang of things :) and then I realize we have a new issue. Thrush :( Pretty much it is an imbalance of yeast and good bacteria in my milk causing feeding to be very painful. Off to the lactation consultant we go! The ladies at St. John Providence Breastfeeding Clinic in Detroit was very helpful and reassuring that Parker is getting enough food when I nurse him and told us we have a mild case of thrush. I am not convinced the cream they gave me for the thrush, Newman's Cream, is really helping though. Therefore I did a bunch of research on my own to find natural treatments for thrush. So far I have found grapfruit seed extract to be the best treatment. So I clean myself with a distilled water/extract mixture and then drink some too. I found the advice from this site to be the most helpful. The reviews say it tastes horrible and they aren't kidding. It tastes like poison, but I have found a spoonful of applesauce right after the mixed shot of juice and extract does the trick. Hopefully this will get us back on track and away from pumping/bottles. I am tired of pumping 6 times a day and it takes forever to warm up a bottle in the middle of the night....even with a bottle warmer. So much easier to just nurse the lilttle guy. I have also learned that when this lil guy wakes up and wants to eat, he means business. We now eat first and then change the diaper. He went nuts on me the other night for changing his diaper first. Glad he is becoming more alert and growing :) . We are looking foward to having daddy home for a full week at the end of the month! Mommy is tired!
