1. a stuffy nose is not the end of the world
2. my way isn't the only way, but it is what i believe is best for my baby
Today is daddy and pa pa's birthday :) Aunt Leeah and Baby Teddy were in town last weekend to celebrate the birthdays. It was great to see them and Parker and baby Teddy got to meet each other for the first time. Of course Park slept most of the time and I hated every minute of him being passed around, but we did get some great pictures of all 4 cousins. We also got some good laughs looking at Shayne's baby book. He was huge! Plus his mom said he was eating hot dogs by 6 months! So funny to me because I don't plan to give Park a real hot dog.... ever. Another reminder that we all do things differently. Neither way is right or wrong, just different. I will not judge how others choose to live their life, I just hope in return they can respect the wishes I have for my child. I will not parent based upon the fact that "it won't kill him, he will be fine". I am very proud to say that I spend lots of time researching and learning what is best for Park, Shayne, and myself. I am slowly learning to speak up for myself and what I believe in and not settle for less based upon what everyone else does, thinks, or says. On another note, I can't believe how big Teddy is getting...great reminder for me to enjoy each day with Park as he grows.
Park has started to grab on to my shirt when I a holding him. He has also started to smile more :) . We are doing much better with the breastfeeeding and down to only 2 bottles a day out of 10 feedings. Thank goodness the thrush is under control. Park loves the Baby Bjorn. I bought it at a Mom 2 Mom sale for $12. He falls asleep in it every time and I love it because he is still close to me and I can still kind of get some stuff done. While I was pregnant one of my midwives (Sara) told me that babies who get the hiccups often in the womb usually get them a lot after birth too. She was right on. Poor little Park gets the hiccups like
every day. Thank goodness he is calm when he gets them, but sometimes they last for 20 minutes! I always feel bad and sit with him the entire time. Park has been waking up with a bit of a stuffy nose. Of course it makes me nervous to think he may have a cold....maybe even daddy's cold from last week? So I bought some saline drops and a Nosefrida and have added snotsucking to my morning routine. It really isn't that bad and you can't even tell unless he cries. Just hoping it doesn't last too long.
Had to kick myself in the pants to start running this week. I signed up for the Traverse City Half Marathon at the end of May and need to start training asap! Started out on the treadmill this week with a slow 2 miles and it wasn't as bad as I expected. My plan is to run/walk my way through the 13.1 and enjoy myself. The only thing I need to figure out is which bra to wear. I have read that nursing moms shouldn't wear bras that are too tight. After a littel bit of research it sounds like most running moms wear a good supportive sport's bra while running, but take it of asap after. Guess I will try this to start and see how it goes.... so far so good.
